Prescription Assistance Program

Jul 25

I was unable to attend our July support group meeting, but I heard that a couple members are having trouble paying for their meds. A couple resources you might want to consider are the following:

  • Visit Partnership for Prescription Assistance at or call 1-888-477-2669.
  • Visit the website of the pharmaceutical company that produces the medication you take to see whether it has its own prescription assistance program. For example, Eli Lilly has a program called TruAssist. AstraZeneca has several programs that fall under the umbrella of AZ&Me.
  • Let your prescriber know about your financial situation. He or she may have free samples of the medications you need.
  • Ask your pharmacist for help. WalMart has a $4 Prescription Program; visit to see if the medication you need is offered.

Also, whenever your doctor prescribes a medication, ask whether a generic equivalent is available.

If you have any other suggestions, please post a comment.
